We want to make identifying (and fixing!) issues in code as natural as it can be, fully from inside your browser without any additional configuration.

Add .idx/dev.nix for import from repo
When I import project from my repository, I want to install Golang. After I installed Golang, they said my Golang package is not permanent, so I want to make it permanent and I read the documentation of IDX and found it. They say I need to edit my .idx/dev.nix file for the package but I cannot find it on my project. Please make it possible to edit .idx/dev.nix for project that import from github repository

...can have direct URL's that don't have a location redirect
Currently we can have URLs that forward to localhost. But these use a redirect (30x). Some environments don't accept a location redirect. For example, we are developing Google Workspace Add-ons and it would be a great usecase for it, but we need a tool like ngrok to connect add-ons to our endpoints, since they need a 200 response.

Map vim commands correctly
I've been used for a long time the "Vim" extension for vscode, for example.
I started the IDX and the first thing I did was install this extension.
When I try to switch between panels using "ctrl+w+h", for example, the browser window asks me if I want to leave the page.
So, if the Vim extension could map correctly your keymaps without the influence of the current browser maps, it was amazing.

Project IDX Status
Since there's a lot of bugs in this early stage it would be great if you can add a bug status page in your website which will tell the user if there's actually a bug that has been reported / getting fixed or if everything is okay so the user can decide if the problem is from his end or not.

Support Jupyter Notebooks and Python/R
Adding support for Jupyter Notebooks and customized Python/R kernels will enable data scientists to develop data and machine learning projects easily in IDX.

Support Docker-in-Docker
IDX should support running Docker containers within the Docker container provided for the runtime, preferably by reusing the host's Docker daemon:
$ docker run -ti --rm -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock hello-world docker: permission denied while trying to connect to the Docker daemon socket at unix:///var/run/docker.sock: Post "http://%2Fvar%2Frun%2Fdocker.sock/v1.24/containers/create": dial unix /var/run/docker.sock: connect: permission denied. $ sudo docker run -ti --rm -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock hello-world docker: Cannot connect to the Docker daemon at unix:///var/run/docker.sock. Is the docker daemon running?. See 'docker run --help'.
versus on Codespaces:
…$ docker run -ti --rm -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock hello-world Hello from Docker! This message shows that your installation appears to

Workspace Appearance
You know that many developers use VS Code and as a software student, I was using it before I met Project IDX. One of my habits is that after logging in to the workspace, I would like to have options such as terminal, help, execute code directly at the top, not with 3 lines, and it would be nice to log in by connecting directly to github in the settings section.

How to access Android emulator?
Hi,
Currently, there is no way to access the Android emulator in IDX. I tried using the shortcut CTRL+SHIFT+P, but there is still no option to view the Android emulator preview.
Not only the Android emulator preview, but I am also unable to access the Web preview. When clicking on 'Show Web preview', I get this error message: "Command 'Project IDX: Show Web Preview' resulted in an error: command 'monospace.showWebPreview' not found."
Please help.
