  1. Whether I need to change emails, or just get out of the way. We all need to transfer our projects at some point.

I'm just asking for the ability to grant privileged access to a trusted colleague about all my projects, through an email or something like that.

  2. The implementation of a Share Project Admin Panel would be a significant enhancement. This panel would provide a simple yet effective tool for project owners to manage the profiles of people with whom they share their projects. The main functionalities of this admin panel would include:

    Assigning Roles and Privileges:
    * Editors: Users assigned as editors can share projects, clone them, etc.
    * Readers: Users assigned as readers can view the project but are restricted from sharing or cloning it.

This feature aims to improve collaboration and project management within the IDX platform by offering clear and straightforward controls over…

  4. It would be nice if we can store API keys in dedicated area as the only current solution is putting them in code or env variable in dev.nix, which isn't prefered, as I would prefer put the dev.nix into git along with the code. This might also help if multiple user collaboration is ever implemented, each user can have their own API keys. Thanks!

  6. Since IDX is using nix files to configure an environment, it would probably be best for us to create and save these files and be able to import it into another/future project.

Specifically "imported from repos" and blank workspaces. That way we wouldn't have to recreate the file or save it in another place when you can just access it from IDX itself.

  7. IDX now has project-specific .idx/dev.nix file, which configures the project-specific environment.

I'd like to have a user-specific user.nix (or similar) file which would be applied on all of my own workspaces, which would not be shared to other people using my project.

Use case: I author an open source project, which needs project level dependencies. These I'd put to .idx/dev.nix. I also have a ton of terminal and git aliases and configs that I'd like to have on my own projects, but which don't make sense in the context of my open source project.

  9. I'd like the option to share a workspace to a collaborator without letting them edit my code. I'd expect them to be able to fork my workspace into their own.

  12. Companies should be able to host their own environments and use cloud for development. IDX is perfect for that. Companies, in turn, don't have to provide powerful laptops to developers and use multiple mechanisms to keep the code safe from employee theft. Instead, all code resides on cloud on the company owned instance of IDX and users can work from much more inexpensive chromebooks.
Realtime collaboration features and direct link to gsuite platform to start audio and video calls to discuss code with colleagues would be cool.
Support for self-customizable virtual machines to keep the RUN environment different from BUILD…

  13. Have global keys and config for git without log in every time you make a new project, also bumping the custom git configuration. Then you can one-click import repos from any git server configured.

  16. I've been teaching students using IDX these days, more or less for fun and also to test how well the IDX AI performs w.r.t React.js. A feature that I use sometimes on the local machine is Live Share extension.

A brief description of the extension -
The Live Share Extension on VSCode enables other dev to work on the same instance of VSCode on multiple files, which is extremely useful when creating small scale projects.
I understand that it is developed by a different company (Microsoft) but it will be helpful specifically for teaching purposes.
    There can be an alternative…

  19. Hi, if I checkout a github repo that is public, but that I own and want to make changes to, I am not prompted for my GitHub credentials and therefore don't have write permissions to the repo. Would be good to have proper GitHub account management included in the experience (not only when you start the project)
