  1. Dear Admin,

    I already try Project IDX and I feel like this feature is very useful. But, I feel that the workspace limitation is measly. I hope you can increase the limitation from 2 to 5 maybe. It will helpful that you will consider my feedback.

    Thank you.

  3. I believe that for IDX to go forward, you somehow need to create a UI for the dev.nix file, so that I can assemble the desired components, many people do not know nix or are familiar with it. I could, for example, choose if I want Angular, and which version of it, which version of the node I would use, so that I can build the desired model, but without using nix codes.

  5. Add Cloud native backend template / integration with tools like Serverless framework, Openshift, Docker app, etc or even with popular cloud services such as aws lambda, step functions, multiservice (eventbridge boilerplate) or AzC / GCP equivalents...

  6. Installing extensions such as "Python", "Jupyter Notebook" causes an incorrect notification to pop-up showing "Try downloading manually" which is wrong as after a couple of seconds it gets installed correctly.

  8. We need FastAPI for faster backend development along with any frontend templated mostly ReactJS. Django and Flask are good choices but FastAPI let us work more efficiently with production boost of 200% to 300%.

  9. For experienced nix users, the channel and packages parameters overlap with flakes enough that there's no need to wrap them up in a bespoke DSL. If a project already has a flake.nix that includes a devShell, it's not clear how this should be wired up.

    For inexperienced nix users, being forced to learn Nix to edit the idx-specific entry seems unnecessary.

  11. Since IDX is using nix files to configure an environment, it would probably be best for us to create and save these files and be able to import it into another/future project.

    Specifically "imported from repos" and blank workspaces. That way we wouldn't have to recreate the file or save it in another place when you can just access it from IDX itself.

  14. Allow switch to superuser account (root)..

      # .idx/dev.nix
      packages = [
        pkgs.sudo
      ];

    test-2596052:~/test$ sudo
    sudo: /etc/sudo.conf is owned by uid 65534, should be 0
    sudo: /usr/bin/sudo must be owned by uid 0 and have the setuid bit set

    I get that error while using sudo installed from nix package

  17. Hi, if I checkout a github repo that is public, but that I own and want to make changes to, I am not prompted for my GitHub credentials and therefore don't have write permissions to the repo. Would be good to have proper GitHub account management included in the experience (not only when you start the project)

  19. Especially for developing and testing cloud-to-cloud services before deploying them, it'd be great to be able to expose locally running web servers as public HTTP endpoints.

  20. 'm encountering a CORS error when using GoogleIDX in my Express.js project. My application can't access https://workstations.cloud.google.com/devshell/gateway/oauth due to CORS restrictions.

    Enabling CORS on the server is preferred over a proxy server. I'm using express and cors with the following code (example provided if needed).

    I've also tried adding the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header but without success.

    Could you investigate and suggest solutions?

    Thanks,
    Kartik Kumar

    Additional Information (Optional):

    Error Message: GET https://workstations.cloud.google.com/devshell/gateway/oauth?... 403 (Forbidden)
    Using latest express and cors versions.
    This removes extra spaces while keeping the content concise.
